Skinnydipping02

Started Screenprinting last week, great fun.
I decided to do a 2 colour Dodo first and do the Skinnydippers on the second weekend.
So I added some Details and split the whole thing up into 4 colours, but to look like 6 different ones, by overlapping transparent paints.
I hope it all works in the end. I'll keep you posted

Totally pointless poem

Bessy is messy
but
Heidi is tidy
Molly is jolly
but
Christof is pissed off
Brad is bad
but
Manuel has done well

and some contributions from our special
friend in Toronto:

Wendy is bendy
but
Neville is level
and
Zoe's too showy
but
Dwight's outta sight

One more Poem

The Baker's wife:

When baking cake, she blew it,
by adding too much fru...it
but once when baking muffin,
she didn't put enough in.

Hindenburg

I was trying to leave this Poem anonymously on Seans Airship blog but forgot to switch anonymous on, and so gave the game away...
Ah, what the hell, I might as well show off with it now:

Hindenburg:

Great whale of the sky
I'm wondering why
do you not now fly?
Is it because thy
Hy...
drogen was to blame,
for so large a flame
that blew you assunder,
I wonder.

Great phallus of gas
low weight but high mass
keep thrusting about
make love to a cloud
No fire of lust
competes with thy thrust
I must
admit
I envy you
a bit.

If I live to be gray,
I still never may
experience or ponder
silver sex in blue yonder
'cause you burst
in Lakehurst
Blam...

damn!

National Gallery

When working on Mr. Bean I needed to go to the National gallery, for research, as one of the episodes played there.
I was not allowed to take any photos as that is against their rules, so I asked if thy had photo material that I could use. I was told to contact the Press department which refused to help me as I was not a member of the press.
Jill, our producer, then rang, asking if we could have archive material and was told to submit the episode's script for approval by the galleries director, before they would consider our request... good grief.
In the end I just took a morning off and went sketching, which you are allowed to do in pencil, ballpoint and crayon, without special permission...

Ernest Vincent Wright

If youth, throughout all history, had had a champion to stand up for it; to show a doubting world that a child can think; and, possibly, do it practically; you wouldn’t constantly run across folks today who claim that “a child don’t know anything.”A child’s brain starts functioning at birth; and has, amongst its many infant convolutions, thousands of dormant atoms, into which God has put a mystic possibility for noticing an adult’s act, and figuring out its purport.

This is the first paragraph of the novel GADSBY by Ernest Vincent Wright, written in the late 1930's which contains some 50,000 words but not the letter E.

Fleas

This isn't mine, but it's too good not to share:

Big fleas have little fleas
upon their backs to bite 'em
and little fleas have lesser fleas,
and so at infinitum.
And the big fleas themselves, in turn,
have bigger fleas to go on.
And those themselves have bigger ones
and bigger still
and so on.

Bir whorls have little whorls,
that feed on their velocity
and little whorls have lesser whorls
and so on to viscosity...

Bye Eddie

Sadly, Animation Legend Eddie Radage died earlier this week in his house in Deal.
Me and Miss Hathorn were lucky enough to spend several weekends down there with him and his wife Pauline, marveling at the content of his attic.
Eddie animated on Yellow Submarine, Watership Down and Animal farm and in this photo is trying to get some acting tips from the real Napoleon.

I'll miss him...

Walckvogel

Ok, here is another contender for the silkscreening do in 3 weeks time.
Discovered in 1598 by Portugese sailors and later dubbed Walckvoegel or Doddarsen by the Dutch, the Dodo (Raphus Cucullatus, large flightless pigeon) is a bird we know almost nothing about for certain. except that by 1681 there were no more Dodos...
